The Board of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority approved a resolution transferring Hawthorne Garden to the Neighborhood Gardens Trust

Come celebrate Hawthorne Garden

When: Sunday, November 17th, 2024

Time: Noon to 3 pm

Where: Hawthorne Garden

Greetings from HEC’s Community Organizer, Stan Horwitz.

Last month, the Board of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority (PRA) approved a resolution transferring Hawthorne Garden to the Neighborhood Gardens Trust (NGT) with a deed restriction stating that the garden must be used as a community garden. This is wonderful news! It means the garden is protected and won’t be taken away as long as we operate it properly as a garden.

We appreciate all the support you have offered us. We want to celebrate!!! Thanks also to City Council President Kenyatta Johnson for making this wonderful turn of events happen.

Please come to Hawthorne Garden to celebrate

Sunday, November 17th Noon to 3pm

We’ll have food, drink, and good conversation. We hope you can stop by to say hi!

Please share this announcement with your neighbors.

If you have any questions about Hawthorne or you would like to volunteer with the Hawthorne Empowerment Coalition, please send an email to info@hecphila.org or call us at (267) 209-3423.
