October Community Meeting

Join us for our next in-person community meeting!

When: Thursday, October 10th, 2024

Time: 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Where: Hawthorne Cultural Center at 1200 Carpenter St.

This meeting is free and open to everyone. Our goal is to reboot the HEC to better serve you and future Hawthorne residents.

Please join us to learn more about the HEC and learn what we have accomplished and hope to accomplish in the coming years in our wonderful neighborhood.

We are working with the Friends of Hawthorne Park to have jazz concerts in the park, an education committee offering scholarships, weekly neighborhood clean-ups, an arts committee working on offering classes, and public art displays.

The HEC board will be present and will discuss the organization’s accomplishments, our treasury report, the status of Live 1101, and the Post Brothers’ Community Benefits Agreement, hear your concerns, and set out goals for the coming year.

We need Hawthorne residents like you to join the HEC. Volunteers are needed so that we can continue to serve and advocate for our wonderful community.

Our goal is to recruit candidates to volunteer as HEC board members and committee chairs. If all goes well, we plan to have board elections next month.

Getting involved in the Hawthorne Empowerment Coalition is a great way to improve our neighborhood, meet your neighbors, and step up as we pass the torch to a new set of board members.

This meeting will be held rain or shine. Free pizza and soft drinks will be provided, while supplies last. Please send us an email or call if you have any questions.
